Meet Mrs. Spangler

I am very excited to be returning to Beverly Woods for my third year! Here is a little bit about me!

I am married to my husband Scott, and we recently celebrated our 26th wedding anniversary. We have two children. Our son recently graduated from NC State University with a degree in civil engineering. Our daughter is a 10th grader in high school.

I received my BA in Psychology from Purdue University in 1985, and went on to work in personnel for awhile before moving to Germany to live and work with my husband’s job for 2 years. We returned to the U.S. in 1988, and I gave birth to our son. For the next 15 years I was a stay-at-home mom, but did many odd jobs on the side such as running a home-based business and becoming a certified aerobics instructor.

I spent a lot of time in elementary schools working on the PTA when my children were younger, and when my daughter was in 2nd grade, I was offered the opportunity to become a teacher assistant in 5th grade at Providence Spring Elementary. That experience helped me decide to pursue a lifelong dream of becoming a teacher. With the encouragement of colleagues, family and friends, I applied and was accepted to the Master’s program at Queens University of Charlotte. I completed the requirements for my teaching license in January 2009 and earned my Master’s degree in Teaching in May 2010.

After 2 wonderful years in 3rd grade here at Beverly Woods, I am very excited to be taking on a new challenge of teaching technology. I look forward to the opportunity to work with students in all grade levels and share my love of technology with them! Please feel free to contact me by email at holly.spangler@cms.k12.nc.us.
