Lesson 3: Students will learn how to use the tools in Microsoft Paint. After practicing with the tools, students will create a self-portrait in Paint and print it in color.

Special Lesson 5 for Stand Up to Bullies Week: Students will be taking a short online survey on bulllying, see link "Stand Up to Bullies Week". Then they will be watching a short video from Discovery Education called "Balltown: Bullying & Teasing: Part 1 & 2. Finally they will use the SmartBoard to complete an interactive game called "Bully Roundup" where they will attempt to answer questions about bullying and will move around the board based on their correct responses.

Lesson 6: Students will be introduced to Raz Kids. They will practice going to the Internet, then to Raz Kids and saving websites into their favorites to locate easily in the future. Students will practice logging into Raz Kids with their classroom login, then locating their names in the class list and finding their personal book list assigned by their classroom teacher. Students will then practice listening to and reading books from their list.

Special Lesson 7 for Inclusion Week: Students will learn how to navigate the Internet to reach the BrainPOP website. They will learn how to login and recognize the many features available with each movie offered on the BrainPOP website. We will view a BrainPOP movie about Helen Keller and discuss how she overcame the challenges in her life to become an activist for rights of women and people with disabilities. We will explore "Belly Up" and "Pop a Joke". We will then practice sequencing the events of Helen Keller's life. We will work together to complete the online quiz activities for this movie. If time allows, students will return to their seats and use the "Draw About It" feature to create a poster about Helen Keller.

Lesson 7: Students will login, go to the Internet, then to www.kerpoof.com and save this website to their favorites. Then they will be introduced to the "Spell A Picture" activity where they will create a picture. They will first choose a background for their picture. Then they can add objects to their picture by spelling the objects correctly.

Special Thanksgiving Lesson 8: Students will learn about the history of Thanksgiving on www.brainpopjr.com. They will watch movie about Thanksgiving and then complete activities with what they have learned. After finishing the BrainPOP Jr. activities, students will assemble a Thanksgiving puzzle on the SMART Board by moving the puzzle pieces into the correct position. The puzzle can be found at

Lesson 9: Students will learn features/tools of Microsoft Paint and follow the lesson guidelines below to create a pizza using Paint.

Lesson 10: Students will login, go to the Internet, then to www.kerpoof.com. They will be introduced to the "Make a Movie" activity. The teacher will guide them through a lesson where they learn how to add characters, methods, special effects and additional scenes to create their own movie. Once students become familiar with this activity, they will be asked to create a 3 scene movie with a winter theme.

Lesson 11: Groundhog Day Project in Microsoft Word. Students will be creating short stories about Groundhog Day and typing them in Microsoft Word. Students will watch a short video on Discovery Education called "Holiday Facts and Fun: Groundhog Day" 12min. http://player.discoveryeducation.com/index.cfm?guidAssetId=9E67600A-AF47-4759-A530-C64F7B0AC133&blnFromSearch=1&productcode=US . We will discuss the basics of a MIcrosoft Word and begin typing short stories about Groundhog Day. Next lesson we will watch Youtube footage of actual Groundhog Day coverage from Punxsatawny, PA. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JE0gddpeGnY and short report on NC's groundhog, Sir Walter Wally http://www.wral.com/news/state/story/4448079/ .Open document started last time and continue to work on our short story about Groundhog Day in Microsoft Word.

Lesson 12: Students will choose a question to use to poll their fellow classmates and gather data to make graphs in Microsoft Excel. Once data is gathered, students will make a bar, pie and pictograph of their data using Microsoft Excel.




Lesson 13: Who Needs a Fairy Godmother, Anyway? You know the story of Cinderella and how her Fairy Godmother helped her get to the ball, meet the prince, and live happily ever after. But you also know that Fairy Godmothers are make-believe. In this lesson, you will help Cinderella figure out how to get to the ball without depending on magic by completing a series of tasks with your partner.

Task #1: Print Stepmother Math and solve the problems.
Task #2: Open Microsoft Paint and draw a map from Cinderella's house to the castle. Include lots of landmarks along the way so she doesn't
get lost.
Task #3: Open Microsoft Paint and draw a picture of Cinderella's mode of transportation to the castle.
Task #4: Open MIcrosoft Paint and design a dress for Cinderella to wear.
Task #5: Using Microsoft Word and the information your created in Tasks 1 - 4, type your new version of the story.
Task #6: Using Microsoft Powerpoint, insert pictures and story as your final project.

Lesson 14: Fairy Tale Evil Character Wanted Poster Students will click on the link below to open a Microsoft Excel document with a template for making a wanted poster. They will choose an evil fairy tale creature and create a Wanted Poster for that creature which includes a description of the creature, crime committed, where they were last seen and a brief summary of their fairy tale story.
